Description of an actual "problem"

Hey friends,

I'm extremly satisfied with my car (320i E36),but there is something not ordinary is happening.

I'll describe it for you...maybe you'll get the picture.


When i start my car,after 10 or 15 secs,and sitting in the driver's seat,i feel 1 or two trembling of the motor .

This issue is repetitve but not continuous.

When i put my palm hand in front of the exhaust,i can feel what is happening.

The air coming out is periodic but it occures after a moment or so ,that this air is coming out like a "boom" on my hand.

it's like that : periodic periodic boom periodic boom periodic periodic boom :P

Note:this phenomenon occures only when the car is in Park or Neutral mode.

lol got the idea???

The car works great,has no fuel problems,no oil problems,it circulates great.

So...what could it be ???

Note: last year,my engine had an oil problem,it was burning oil.
For that,i had to put 2 kilos every month.

I used a high visocity oil (because he's much cheaper).

This year,when i fixed my motor,my mechanic told me that the "poussoirs"(i don't know the word in english,so i wrote it in french"...i think it means :"Labyrinth bucket type tappet")are somehow "stuck" because i used a high visocity oil, and they shall be released in time (as long as i circulate).

From what you have said you have a slight miss fire, one of you spark plugs is playing up.

but my spark plugs are new .

They are old only 3000 km

plus,this problem occured also when the mechanic handed me my car

How can i be sure that really there is a spark plugs problem??

Should i change them immediatly?? or is there another way of finding out which spark plug should i change .

Also,i noticed that after i drove my car aound and get back home and park my car,i realise that there is a very very slice playing in the RPM when this problem occures(only when i want to park,and not when i turn on the engine in the morning or whenever).

I reconfirm what i said up there (the motor has no problems.....the car handles turrificly).

Ok, New plugs fine, have you checked the rotor cap and rotor arm, as it does sound like a miss-fire, or maybe the timing is slightly out??

How can i know if my engine is knocking??

Notice:
i'm not facing a rattling noise.

m not having the same sort of noise you'd hear if driving too slow in a high gear, but the point is that you hear rattling when you shouldn't; when you are going fast enough for the gear.

Knocking??? No miss-firing as in the spark to all or 1 or 2 plugs is intermittent.

Thats just camshaft or sticky valves if you do a lot of short trips the vaves get sticky (varnished) a long run will cure this.

but i'm facing an unusual and an uncontinuous slight vibration(boom).
