Daytime Running Lights ????

Does anyone know if the '92 318i had a DRL module installed inCanada?
DL's were mandatory in 1990 for all vehicles in Canada. Normally, this requirement was for the headlamps to be in a dim mode while driving.

My '92 318i Cabriolet has all the lights on when the ignition is started.
i.e. Headlamps,Tail lamps and front, rear and side marker lights. The interior dashlights are also on although dimmed.
Does anyone know if this is the default for this vehicle? Is there anyone who knows the wiring / module requirement?Help newbie on his 2nd battery....

First of all, welcome to werkz, despite the circumstances.

What you describe does not sound like correct operation at all. I don't know much about how to fix it, but somebody else here very likley will be able to help.

Does your car have any aftermarket lighting equipment?

No there is no aftermarket lights nor gizmos.
Thus the question as to what would be the normal set up. This vehicle was serviced by the local factory dealer it's whole life, thus the other ????RE: Factory or not...

That sounds like a US spec car that was re wired to force the headlights in the lit mode with all the other lights to make it sort of legal in CA. You should be able to change it back and get the correct modules and relays for low power DRLs.

Note the Daytime Light Coding Diode(which is not available on US spec cars). If it isn't there, then that supports witeshark's opinion that what you have is a US spec car made to conform to CA law/s
