Dashboard Light Questions

My girlfriend has a 94 325i. and on her dashboard has these 2 little lights..one looks like a wheel its red in color..i dont know what that is, and the other light is an exclamation mark.. (least i believe its exclamation point) anyone know what this is? or what this does..

Check the brakefluid!! But when you post some pics, I can say it more specify....

If the "wheel" has an exclamation point in the center of it and is located at the bottom of the instrument cluster, in the middle (to the left of the check light) it is an error in the transmission control module. That's the only thing i can find that resemble a wheel-looks more like a gear.

does the red wheel have three lines around it on each side? Thats the brake wear indicator.

Yes I believe its the break wear indicator. Get your brakes changed very soon or at least checked. Scared the crap out of me when it came on because I didn't know what it was.

Well thanks guys. i appreciate all the help. i will have to check the brakes out. and the exclamation point i dont know what that is for..it might be the transmission thing like you said. but she just changed the brake pads.. i wonder if its a fuse or what not. thanks for the help.

The exclamation just means something is wrong, the individual indicator tell you what. If the circle has three lines on each side of it, then your brake wear indicator just needs to be reset (new pads). if the circle doesnt have three lines on it and looks like a gear, it is the transmission. after stating that you just changed pads, my money is on it being the brake wear indicator.
