Dash keeps dieing

the gauges on my '93 325is die when i'm driving it. i was doing 120 on the freeway today and they died. i was doing 15mph in town, and the died. they come back after a while. and if u hit the panel benieth the steering wheel really bad. I had a full inspection done at the local BMW dealer before i bought it. He said it was a loose connection which makes sence. does anyone know were it is? i really don't want to pay them labor to find it. Thanks in advance

all of them, the speedo, the tach, the fuel, and the water temp. and the odometer goes out. its a loose connection i just need to know where the hell it is. its pissing me off. i can't be going 100on the freeway and have the speedo go out. it makes me all nervous. out comes the wiring tomorow

ive had that problem for over a year,, way too lazy to change the gauge pod... chances are you blew a capacitor inside or something.. mine go on and off, but they usually stay on most of the time so ive been good. never ran out of gas

Does no-one know what causes the instrument clusters to fail intermittently like this? Is it one electrical component that's failing?

As Furious suggested, you probably need to change the gauge pod or have someone service it.

Check the harness. Most of it is behind the glove box which is a pain, but I would start there. There is one screw you have to remove through the vent. ( Got stuck on 92 325 with that)
