| Its not a DIY job, unless your very competent and have all the tools, basically you have to take it to an auto transmissin specialist, I would estimate the cost between $2500 and $5000, dependant on where you take it, although you could get in touch with ZF themselves, a brand new box for my 7 series is $4100 (not fitted), a new one for yours will probably work out cheaper than a repair.....on the other hand you have to ask yourself is the car worth spending the money on???, mine wasnt so I opted for a 2nd hand box with 40,000 miles on from a breakers yard for $750, it took me 6 hours to fit on my own, if you go down the breakers yard way always get one from a wreck and not off the shelf, then you can see the mileage.
