Cruise Control Not Engaging - BMW Forum

My cruise control isn't working - should I take it to a mechanic? The fuse is not blown. What does this usually cost to fix?

I heard that the dealer has to "code" the unit if it's replaced or it won't work? Is this true?

Does it matter what gear I'm in? According to the User's manual, I just need to be going over 22mph.

well i can drive my dads car in fifth and be under 22 mph...the car jumps around but i can do it....its like BAUT...BUAT...BUAT....BUAT...

Recently got the car. I'm sure it worked at one time. I guess I'll take it to the dealer and have them check it out and go from there.

Cruise control problem was the clutch swtich. It's an electrical switch down by the clutch pedal. $14 at the dealer. It required adjusting by my mechanic but replaced the clutch switch and works fine.
