Cruise Control Issue: 93 325i

My cruise control for my E36 is shot. I'm not exactly sure what it could be, the only thing I'm know is that it's not the fuse. If anyone has any insights on to what the problem may be please let me know.

Is it an automatic or manual tranny? There is a switch that has to made to allow the cruise to work - lets it know its not in reverse. I figured this out when I converted my automatic 325is to a manual and the cruise wouldn't work.

It's a manual transmission. Where is this switch located, I'd like to check it out.

I switched from an automatic to a manual tranny about three years ago, and as I recall the switch was mounted under the console alongside the shifter so the shifter had to be in "drive" for the cruise to work. On a manual I think it is tied in with the "backup" light switch circuit. Are your backup lights working? The switch screws into the side of the tranny case and if I remember correctly these are the only wires that run to a manual. If you have a wiring diagram handy find that circuit and follow it backwards looking for a relay somewhere that leads to the cruise control circuit.
