I have a 93 318is (i know its slow but I still love it and a great daily driver) and here lately it seems like every little thing is falling apart. The most annoying is the drivers side exterior door handle doesnt work, it looks like the metal arm that pulls the release has broken. I attached some pics cause I cant explain it very well. The question regarding that is has anyone ever repaired this piece? And if so did it hold up? It would beat paying 300 bucks to replace the entire thing.
You probably could weld it, but far more convenient would be to look up the part number, buy the part on the cheap from an online parts supplier, and swap the parts yourself.
I tried to look up the part number on realoem.com and they dont have it listed seperately. The only other option I guess would be to buy the entire assembly.
Or go to a junk yard and pull it out of a door there. There are plenty of E36's in junk yards these days, and I would imagine that most of them have all of their door assemblies fully intact.
