I have surging problems, the RPMs go up and I will randomly get power. I've been told that it's my MAF sensor and that is usually the problem. ANyone else have this? Also, I lost my cell and punched my dashboard haha. Well, it burnt out a light behind the guage display and a light behind the climate control. Are these easy to replace?

yea you pop off the dials and then jack the face off with a screwdriver or soemthing, then you see all the bulbs, but that bulb that lights up the whole face doesn't like to stay tight so you got to fool with it. hitting the dash by the climate control a few times makes that light come on in my car
they don't really go up and down, it's more like the RPMs are smooth to redline but I will feel the power go in and out. It won't consistantly get stronger. Can my plugs be fowling right after I put them in somehow?

My car does the exact same thing. Ive got a 95 325i with 158000. Can anyone help?
it is quite possible that your air filter is very dirty or clogged, that will do that, either that or something with the fuel system (not delivering enough). check the air filter though first.
-it could also be spark plugs that aren't gapped right.
what do you mean by the spark plugs being gapped? I just replaced my spark plugs btw because I thought they were the problem but they weren't. Same thing with the air fliter. Replaced that a week or two ago. Last time I changed the fuel filter was a year ago. Do you think that could be it? I also got my whole fuel system cleaned and that wasn't it so I guess I am leaning towards a fuel filter. Name me every possible thing!! this is killing me. To clarify what is happening my RPMs will go up smoothly but it does actually feel like I randomly get gas burned in the pistons. Power will just come and go instead of smoothly arriving at maximum HP
when I floor the car and have the window open I can hear light pops coming out of the exaust and then the car starts to go like gas isn't being burned. I'm off to bed so you won't get any more replies for another 7 hours haha. I hope someone helps me out here overnight!!!!
