coolant problem: (thermostat?)

hey, i have a problem with my car wanting to overheat. it started yesterday on the way home, just driving then all of a sudden my gauge read red. now i just had a coolant flush about 8,000 miles ago. so my question is, is it most likley the thermostat going bad or something more severe? thanks for the help

Gkamysz is an unknown quantity at this point
If the radiator is cold when the car is at operating temp, the thermostatis stuck shut.

Could be your water pump, they are made with plastic impellars on some BMWs and will cause imediate overheating.

Sounds like a water pump. Open your radiator cap and give it about 3k-4k and watch to see if it starts "pissing" back into the resevoir. If nothing is coming back into the resevoir from the top, then your water pump is not recirculating and is dead.
