Your coolant level is probably low...just low enough that the warning light will go on if you're parked at a particular angle (probably not on level ground). You may have a very small coolant leak that manifested itself with the warning light going on after your trip.
I'd fill the car with 50%coolant and 50% water and monitor the situation. May be nothing

No squeaks or rattles... unreal!
yeah what is the water for? i know people mix the coolant and the water... but i thought it was done upfront before filling the reservoir... r u suggesting there r two seperate reservoirs.. if so wouldn;t the water jus freeze everytime???
thanx
WTF!!! Do they let you people actually drive a BMW??? How do you not know where the coolant goes?
You should always use a mixture of 50% H20 (water) with 50% coolant. You should always pre-mix it, that means, before you put it in your car (letter B in the pic above).
Some coolant comes pre-mixed. It will clearly be labeled in some way. If you buy the proper coolant from the BMW dealer, it is NOT pre-mixed.
If you're smart, you also put windshield washer fluid in hole A, not just water...

Isn't that what chevy cavaliers are for?

hehe, that was the first car I ever had. A 1990 chevy cavalier that seemed to enjoy breaking down at the most opportune times. I mean, talk about being a budget car, this thing has no rpm meter, no temp meter, no oil meter, no nothing/
LOL, the only thing that shit had was a speedometer and odometer.
oh well, I had her for about a year until the headgasket finally blew.
aight schilke, mr. know it all...
read the f**kin post first... thas exactly what i said... the coolant is supposed to be mixed b4 you put it in... n when they said, its just water in some hole A, i had to ask that question...
n jus cuz somebody drives a bmw, doesn't mean they have to know everything about it... granted one should atleast know not to put water in the coolant place (atleast not in the freezing areas)...
a guy drivin a ferrari prolly know a lot less than the one driving a cavalier you r suggesting... ok mayb thas an exageration, but u get the point..
