convertible front/rear window spacing

Just moved up from a E30 convertible to a E36 convertible (1997 328i).

The spacing of the driver side windows to too far apart and the windows do not seal well. Comparing it to the other side (which is proper), it looks like the front windows land at the same distance from the top's mid-joint on both sides of the car but the rear side window on the driver's side is just too far back. BTW: it doesn't matter if the top is up or down, the little gap is the same.

How would one adjust the rear side window to be more forward?

Cool

check for binding at the window guide rails. binding will cause your window regulator clutch to "let go" and switch off earlier than it should...
