Considering Buying 92' 325i

Considering buying 92' 325i. Never owned BMW before. Always Toyota.

Has 100,000 miles $5500. Manual. Friends are telling me parts and service will cost a fortune, must take to BMW dealer, etc. Do these cars run well, are they reliable. I read about some of the problems on this site. Do they require a lot of maintnance?

check the maintence records of the person before you... becasue the water pump and radiator usually go by 100k...

as for maintence on my car, i only had to change the oil.

btw... the 1992s dont have VANOS, which is variable valve timing, which is a nice feature if you want to tune your car

The engine itself is bulletproof it is the surrounding parts. The parts for the car are reasonable and can be maintained at reasonable costs IF you do the work yourself. Taking your car to a dealership or an indie mechanic..well bend over without the ky.

yea, if you dont mind getting dirty buy yourself a bentley manual and learn how to DIY. You will save tons of $$$. As mentioned earlier 92 lacked VANOS, but if the car is in good shape I would def. consider it.

I have a 94 bmw and i found a local mechanic that fixes it for half of what BMW wants. Anyone can fix the car, it doesn't half to be a BMW dealer, your friends are just jealouse because they can't have a BMW
