I just bought the car 2 months ago from a kid who said the motor was really screwed up. But it wasn't and I ended up paying $ 600 for it. I had a 84 318 racecar last year but I ended up selling it. In this car I got: Jet Hot headers, Bimmerworld Chip, Bilstein shocks and coilovers, ground control BIG front swaybar, 391 LSD, Full cage, fire system open exhaust to a flowmaster, Hawk blue pads, K&N cone, and some 225-45-15 hooisers. I not touching the motor until winter and then I'll hook it up, with in legal perimeters of course.

Sweet. Hope you stick around, it'd be ncie to have somebody that did a rebuild on a 92 block.

As for the common problems make sure you check out the rear subframe for tears and the rear shock mounts. These are the biggest concern to a race car, most of the other stuff is random little thinks in the electronics and such.

Holy crap a 3.91 LSD, woah. You must top out at like 118 or 120

Nice.

IMO, the engines cooling system is the car's biggest pratfall

The Faq section has tons of info. Here is a link to e36 common problems, and there is a lot more info available in that section of the site....
