Cold Starting

I have a question for you all:

1994 325is / 5 speed / 92,000 Miles

When starting cold, my car hits close to 2,000 rpm when i turn the key (clutch depressed, shifted into first gear) and i can feel a difference from when i start warm. then engine drops to ~750rpm

when i start warm: tachometer hits right below 1,500rpm and drops to ~750rpm

i think i feel a slight pressure on either my clutch pedal or my shift knob when starting cold that i dont feel when starting warm (or at least the pressure isnt at a level where it is noticeable) and a accompanying noise.

is this all normal?

If your engine is hittin 2000 rpm n stayin there, I'd be concerned. 2000 rpm is quite high for startup, but bear in mind that with a cold engine your auto choke is gonna b set to full until its warmed up... That may account for the difference between your hot and cold starts and the slight pressure ur feeling is just the engine kickin harder wen it finally fires up...

My 316 tends to jump a bit on real cold mornins...

cold its almost 2000rpm then regular idle...
warm its right below 1500rpm then regular idle

but the pressure and the sound is also a bit odd...

im used to my 240sx noises i guess...
