Clutch Shudder - BMW Forum

I have a 96 318i 5sp with 75000 kms (47000 mi).
I have noticed in the past month while driving first thing in the morning the clutch shudders in the first few minutes then it seems ok.
Is this because of moisture picked up during the night? The car stays outside where temperatures are about 5 degrees C (40 F).
Is this meaning the flywheel or clutch plate need replacing or resurfacing?
I didn't think the mileage is high enough if this may be the problem.

its a tough call, are you noticing any slipage? at anytime?

No noticeble slipage, just a bit of shudder wgen cold, then it doesn't do it any longer until the next morning or quite a few hours of cooling off.

i'm experiencing the same thing on my 318IS. i bit of shudder sometimes when i pull off. but i do have 170,000 miles on the ticker, its probably time for a new clutch and plate.

anyone know where i can get one for cheap?
