Clutch problems

on my morning drive to school i noticed that my clutch pedal was acting weird...There was no pressure on the pedal untill i pushed it down about 6 inches. Could this be somthing to do with the transmission fluid and where do i check the fluid...I was also wondering if it could have somethin to do with the slave cylinder. At school right now and am hoping that i can get the car back home this afternoon. by the way its a 92 325i 5 speed

I also noticed the pedal stuck down about 5 inches off of the floor and would not rebound back to normal position

sounds like a leak and it sounds like you have air in the system.

yeah i hope its just a leak because i really dont want to have to tear apart my whole dash to replace the slave cylinder... i also found out from my mechanic that the brake master cylinder also runs the clutch so im going to fill it with fluid and then try bleeding it

i don't really get pressure until a good way down either...but it's been like that since i first got m ycar so i assumed it was normal used:

i'm pretty sure you're gonna have to replace the slave cylinder.

my clutch did the same thing about 6 months ago. I kept adding brake fluid for like a week and finally took it to the mechanic. ended up being the slave cylinder leaking. wasn't too expensive tho. can't remember the exact amount.

My dad and I added fluid this weekend. Then bleed the system and it seems to be ok now. But still looses pressure occasionally. I think i will replace the slave cylinder but has anyone done it themself before...dont really have the extra money to bring it somewhere because i spent it all on my coilovers...If anyone knows of a DIY writeup for the slave cylinder let me know
