clutch issues? - BMW Forum

so my buddy just bought a 97 328is for 2,000. i test drove the car and everything is good except the shifter. okay, i'm gonna do my best to explain this to you guys so please forgive me. when the car is in gear(any gear) and you let off the gas it's almost like it wants to shift out of gear and makes a vibration until you continue giving it gas. the seller said it needed a pressure disk. i was confused because i'm not sure what he meant by that. is it a pressure plate or a clutch disc. the issue sounds clutch related right? and if it is can we get by without replacing the WHOLE clutch to fix the issue. please let me know if there is any more info needed. there isn't too much experience since the car was bought about 3 hours ago. give me as much info as you can since i'm not TOO familiar with the clutch

If you do Pull the tranny please replace everything the disk the pressure plate and throw-out bearing. taking the tranny out is a huge job you have to drop exhaust and drive axle it would not be worth putting just one part on and you should check carrier bearing and flex disk before you pull the tranny it sounds like an axle issue. Let me ask you this do you feel the vibration in the cltuch paddle and dose the clutch slip? if not check flex disk and carrier bearing.
