The car has 137k on it, and I was already thinking of a new clutch. Anyway, when depressing the clutch I hear like a rev, then the RPM's drop. Think of when your driving and you shift at lets say 3300rpms, and when you depress the clutch you hear the car rev a little higher like to 3600, and then the rpms drop. Any idea? Thanks.

it sounds like someone fooled with your throttle body, if the shifting is fine, and the pressure is fine, it isnt ur clutch..
if the car is idling normally, in neutral, and then u push the clutch all the way down and the rpm goes up.. well, that would be extremely weird, i dont think its possible.. how ever, when u are driving normally and u shift and ur car revs up, its probably ur idle position, i think its a screw that raises the idle rpm.
or i just have absolutely no idea what im talking about
nope. my bro's clutch did the same damn thing when it was going out. so its most likely that. you need to check it out pretty damn soon before its toast.
WOW I never knew a clutch coud do that
That sound like a stall converter on an automatic.
Learn something new everyday.
Thanks guys I'll know what too look for

Yeah, I didnt think it could do it either, but actually a couple weeks ago, I would push the clutch in in neutral and the rpms would stay up like 1100. When I let off it would go down, but it was weird. So you guys think new clutch huh? Recommend any nice clutch kits, because if im going to put a new one in, might as well get a nice one.

i just replaced my clutch 2 months ago... the kit itself was $200 or something, but labor was a bitch.... unless your gonna DIY.... Sachs is the brand i got
works like a charm
its a little softer then what your clutch should feel like right about now, it took me a couple stalls before i got the new feel down....
I'd go with a clutch masters stage 1. It will give about a 30 % increase in holding capacity than the stock. Not too bad in traffic but grabs right now. I had one in my old passaat and it was about 400$. It made my little four banger passaat chirp through the first 3 gears easy. One for a bmw should be right around the same price. I will probably go with a centerforce in mine though. It is a little cheaper. I have lost so much money in cars because i change them all the time i need to take it easy. good luck

I figure since the e36 models have interchangable parts with the e36 m3 etc. swap your non m3 clutch for an oem m3 why? the stock can hold up to 300hp or lil more. alot better than any non M part. Yeah you can go for better aftermarket goods. At what sacrifice? More hiperformance clutch might make you clutch pedal stiff. Yeah it'll be fun to a point...unless your a 247 racer etc. I rather have reliability and COMFORT. I dont want my left calf bigger than the right...lol
Haha. Hopefully I can find this import auto recycle place and they will hopefully have an m3. I will just take it out there if its not damaged. Save some money.
