All mty instrememnt cluster is ramdomly reseting ever now n then it all just goes off 4 a while then comes back on but with it reseting my fule guage aint reading right all the time it changes abit since this problem ive ran out of petrol twice !! i think through my sterio the bass has maybe loosened a wire behind the dash how can i fix this ? ive tryed 2 get the clocks out before but couldnt get em 2 budge
Pull out the cluster and check your connections. There are 2 T15 or T20 torx screws that hold it in. Undo those, and pull it out. Instrument cluster could be just losing it.

I got a wierd problem. My car has 120,000 miles on it. The cluster out of no were read 320,000, now it reads 280,000, and it seems to go from here to there. I think it's zapped. No I know its zapped, got to be. I did a carfax on the car, there was never any problems with the miles, and the car was last registered in January with 116,000 miles, and Oil was reported and changed in July of 05 with 118,000 the car was not driven much buy the guy I bought it he has about 4 cars. So I was wondering were I can get me one of those clusters or can I rebuild mine?
According to the Bentley manual, the steering wheel has to come off to remove the cluster, which means disabling the airbag. Don't know if anyone has removed it otherwise, but I'm sure someone has tried.

Steering wheel doesnt have to come off "removed mine a few days ago"
you will just need to loosen the Dash so that you can tilt it upwards
The dealer can recalibrate your odometer, but it sounds like that might be a temporary fix. You can find clusters on ebay or these guys are good I've worked with them before...
Well I called the dealer, and they said they would have to diagnos the problem. So you know that would be expensive. Need to find a cluster for a 96 318IS with around 120K. If anyone knows anything let me know, thanks.

i'm not positive, but i don't think the mileage count is stored in cluster, is it? i could be wrong tho, please correct me!
Mileage is being put in your cluster by what your ECU tell's it...
I've seen guys reprogramming the mileage trough the OBD plug... meaning gaining acces to the ECU... The cluster is just showing you what it's being told, so get yourself any kind of cluster for a 318is, or any other, and your fine

that's what i thought it did. but you could always buy an m3 cluster and swap the gauges like Del did! looks agreat too!
but i'm really not sure if just replacing the cluster will fix your problem unless it is just a bad connection in the back.
here is a cluster for a 1994 325is on ebay, fully working, you could use it, can't tell if your ride is m3 or dressed up 3-series from your sig pic, but here is the link, ends soon!
