clock led light dead...

hey guys.
the LED light of the clock just went dead a couple weeks ago. there's not any way to fix that is there... i'd have to get a whole new computer right.

this happened to my head unit a while ago and the bmw guy said its impossible to fix.

but, i wanted to check again.

thanks,
max

The issue is fixable. Last time I went to the dealership the guys noticed and told me they could fix it. Of course, they wanted to charge me $3 for the new3 bulb, and $45 for labor.

A few weeks later myt light started working again and has not failed since, so I have not explored the issue. I think it is just a matter of pulling out the trip computer, opening it, and replacing the bulb. I do not exactly which kind of bulb you will need, but I think I still have their estimate with the part number for it. I will try to come back and post that later.

very very very easy operation

take out OBC, buy pulling from the bottom, then remove the plastic covering, which covers the back... then behind the clock, there will be this "Black Screw" looking thing.. that is the bulb.. if u unscrew it, it will pop right now... then go to a car store that sells bulbs, and find the bulb u need...

then putting it in is reversable!

the DIY is so easy...
the bulbs are $3 and pull out the OBC like Cruzin said.
Sometimes it's not the bulb that blown but the OBC's matrix is bad (very rare)
and BMW will charge you something like $545 for a new OBC.

If you need a new OBC definately check EBAY...I got a brand new one for $25!
