Climate Control Module problem?

Hey guys, recently ive had some issues with my climate control module on my e36. I have the analog one with the dials.

The issue seems to be sporadic. The dials work (fan, temp, etc), however, the a/c, defrost, and circulate buttons dont work anymore. They at times flash like crazy, at times the lights dont turn on, and pressing the buttons does nothing.

Ive read of a similar issue with the digital climate control, so i bought a cheap replacement on ebay, put it in, and it has the same problem. I then tried a friend's e36's climate control in my car, and again the same issue (his climate control works perfectly in his car.)

Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be causing this? a short in a wire? something i cant think of?

try changing your blower resistor. here is a pic but it is for a 96-98, don't know what year your car is

i apologize, i should have said....i have a 95

i dont really know what the blower resistor does, but my blower does work, if thats what the restistor controls
