Clima Problem

Hi ,
I have the following problem with my e36.The little turning knob on the driver's side doesn't affect the temperature of the air and it always blows hot no metter of knob's position, while the right knob works perfect. I've checked the electric circuit behind the knobs and it was ok. Someone told me to see if the heating valve is ok, I was just wandering if it might be something else. Any help would be appreciated

I appologize for this question, but you are checking the left most vent when you are checking the drivers side knob correct? Because the middle is controled by the knob underneath the middle part.

It sounds like it could be a heating valve, I'm not exactly sure which part they are reffering to, but usually when this happens with any car, it is just the "flume" like thing that controls whether the air is coming from the heater or from the AC. If that is what they meant by heater valve, then they are most likely correct.
