OK, the other day, my stupid chk engine lights comes on, that night, I plug into the obd-II code reader, it gives me code P0340 - Camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction.

So, I erase the code and the next day that darn chk engine light came back (that was yesterday), am pretty sure it's the same thing, haven't had the opportunity to chk it. So, humm, any clue has to what I need to do//change?

I had exactly the same problem. Check Engine light keeps coming on. Mine would go off for a day and the next day it's back. Also the car runs slugish.
Once the Camshaft sensor was changed, it made a big diffrence in performance.
It runs like it's new. $85 for the sensor from dealer + 1.5hr labor (did it myself).
I would change the sensor ASAP.

Well!. I followed the steps from someone in this forum. Search the forum. Also like the other guy said, Pelican has the DIY.
Since My car was running slugish and the Check Engine light did not come on, I changed my spark plugs, K&N filter, fuel filter, oxygen sensor, Injector cleaner etc, thinking that performance might improve. But now I think that Camshaft sensor was the only thing I needed to change. It really made a big diffrence.
Installation is not a big deal. Sensor is located in front/top of the engine.
What car do you have? (year/model).

I'll call my nearest dealership today and find out. Is the car safe to drive with the sensor not working?
