check engine and oil service reset - BMW Forum

I just found this forum so I am excited! I am an electronics tech by trade and think I can do what is necessary to fix this...but, my problem is my check engine light is on for the first time(1994 325-IS) and the engine oil service is on...how do I reset that? Is it as simple as shorting out a few pins or add voltage to a pin? Will that reset my check engine light? It is an OBD-1 and how do I access the codes? PLEASE HELP ME!!! THANKS!

I just shorted pins 7 and 19 and that did the trick

Thanks...I got the service light reset by shorting out pins 7 and 19, and the check engine light stayed on. I looked at Pelican and I could not get the codes to pop up(press the accelerator 5 times and watch the check engine light flashes for the codes), so I unhooked the battery and the light has not come back on yet...I wonder if the computer is learning and then it will come back on? If it does, I would think it is an O2 sensor. I actually think the light came on when the service light came on?
