Check Engine Light Comes On Out Of Nowhere

Ok, my check engine light came on yesterday and I'm going to have my mechanic read the code on Monday. I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what it could be. I am still driving the car regardless, it seems to run and drive fine. I'm a little concerned, driving the car won't cause any further damage will it?

Its probably just the oxygen sensor, and I feel like a newb asking this, but I always become anal retentive when something like this happens. Any Ideas?Thanks guys!!

did you check to gas cap?it has to be on tight.it can trigger the check engine light and drive fine. it happen to me before when i found out it wasnt ontight.

It does sound like an O2 sensor, how many miles you got on the clock? The recomended change interval for the aforementioned is 60-80K
