Check Engine Light - BMW Forum

So my gas indicator light burnt out and I was running low on fuel and ended up stalling the car, now the check engine light is on and I can't get it to turn off. I have tried disconnecting the battery but still remains on.. Any ideas other than buying a scanner? Thanks

Could be the fuel-filter being empty that has triggered the warning !!

You might need to get an OBD code reader and check the code(s) and remove them. Here is one that i use and did a write up on:

fuel filter is suffering from a big problem its better that you get solved with it right now otherwise it may cause more further problems here

This thread was 2 years old. Im pretty sure he got it fixed by now.
