i have a 92 325i. While i was making a left hand turn the check engine light came on. I am wondering if it could be that my coolant is low. Could the check engine light be on becuase of low coolant?
Actually it could be on for a few different reasons. Do you have a tool to check waht the problem is? If not I think places like Autozone, pep boys will do it for free?

Since your car is a 92 you can read the codes directly from the car. Go to ultimate-bmw.com and look for the fault codes DIY. THe check engine light will not go on because of coolant tho. The check engine light is an emissions related fault. 9 times out of 10 a check engine light means O2 sensor. There are many other reasons it would come on, but O2 sensor is most common..
Thanks guys. Im a new owner of this car so im still learning about them. Definetly will check out advanced auto parts. Im sure you will be hearing from me again.
i have the same car... when my coolant was low, the obd gave me an error saying that coolant was low... have autozone read the code for you for free...

Also he may not have the 18 button OBC. In that case he wont have a "check" feature that tells the coolant is low..

You sure about this? My check engine light came on yesterday, and the OBC read "Washer Fluid Low". But it only came on momentarily. The check control cleared up once I added more fluid. But it happened as I was making a turn, so this could be the original poster's problem. The fluid was right at the fill mark, so turning caused the sensor to trigger.

The light you are refering to is not the CHECK ENGINE light. You are talking about the CHECK light. This yellow light informs you that there is a fault on your OBC. The CHECK ENGINE light is red and has nothing to do with your OBC.. Again, there are two seperate lights..a yellow CHECK light and a red CHECK ENGINE light..
Your computer should give you an explanation if you press CHECK button, if its your coolant level, it should say so.

ok let me try to get this right:
Yellow: little problems like water level low, break light failure etc
Red: bigger engine probs, o2 sensor...etc
