CHECK ENGINE light!! - BMW Forum

I'm gonna cry. One week after i buy the car the check engine light comes on. A few minutes beforehand I hit a HUGE pothole (they lietrally dug out a part of this street for repairs, 40 inches across, 5 inches deep STRIGHT DOWN) and didn't so much as have a warning sign out - (if i have major repairs i thought about sueing the city.)

What do I do

it's a 96 328is with 104k miles on it. but it was in fantastic condition. Why is the check engine light on. I'm gonna cry ... please help

First of all, did you call the police when this happen? You can sue the city for negligence of posting a warning sign for a huge hole on a public street. They can pay for the damages. As for your engine, a sensor has detected something. You need to go to your mechanic and check that out. If not just add it in the repair bill when you sue the city. Good Luck!
