changing automatic to manual tranny?

Are there any relatively inexpensive options to change my auto to stick?

Its a 318i, and sure, for not too much money, I can buy a used e36 6 cylinder manual - but this car is in immaculate condition and I've put in so much money for various repairs that I'd feel bad trading it in right now.

I wouldnt mind an engine swap either, if anyone knows any options for that.
