My car doesn't have remote central locking (don't know if it should have) but but when i lock the car from the drivers side (as passenger doesnt work?) i car hear and see the locking mech opening and closing over and over again, it happens about 6 times then either stays open or closes!
It's just a 318IS 94 model e36. Where would the actuator be? i know the previous owner has bodged the window open with a piece of wood, i cant see any window runners in the door to be fair!
But would that have any adverse effect on the locking?
Window shouldnt make any difference to the door lock, do check that the wiring connector is secure in the actuator, the actuator sits on top of the door lock #9 in diagram:
Hi, if you haven't already sorted out the problem it sounds like the passengers side door lock actuator. I have just had a similar problem with my car, couldn't lock doors from the trunk/boot lock and would do a similar thing. Ended up being that someone had replaced the trunk/boot actuator with a aftermarket one which did not have an inbuilt switch which told the lock module weather it was locked or unlocked so it got confused.I have replaced the aftermarket actuator with a standard one and now all works well, So after all that it could be that the switch in your passengers side door lock that could be the problem.
Hope this may help.
