Ok so my CEL comes on and off, sometimes and sometimes the car stinks (like a fart or rotten egg smell, embarrasing when ladies ride with me).
Took it to autozone and that code came out. Now, the thing is, they told me that usually the problem was the O2 sensor. Now that doesn't make any sense. If it was and O2 sensor issue the CEL would trow me a code for O2 sensor, and i suppose that there's no type of sensor inside the Cat.
What could it be? O2 sensor or actual Cat is malfuncioning?

I had this happen a while ago... and I've also had friends of mine have the same problem..

This is one of those problems that just doesnt always point to the same solution..

First solution.. would be to test all of your O2 sensors.. make sure they are putting out the correct voltage... for a normal operating sensor.. if you dont know how to do this... take it to a shop.. and they will do it for you.. or replace them.. because the is the most common cause of this smell...

When you get the smell is very very important to the solution... I need to know that...

The first solution shoudl solve it.. because it is the most common... due to a bad fuel mixture.. so.. either change them.. or get them checked out...

Good Luck,

Les
