Yea anyways My cat coverter is def clogged, i can smell that rotton eggs smell
now I dont want to spend alot of money, seeing as how I dont have much
I live in ky, and like we dont do smog emissions tests and stuff
now
If I say wanted to gut my cat, as in take the cover off, bust out the honeycomb crap.....then put the thing back on,
What exactly will that do to my car, make it faster/louder/ what exactly does it do
and is it gonna make me blow like craploads of black smoke outta my car, cause I see hondas with black crap on the back where their exhaust is, and I dont want that done to my car
andf exactly how to i go about doing this , like ive never even seen a catalytic converter before, is it hard to take the cover off
take the fucker out and leave it out and have a middle section with pipe welded in. This is what I am doing. Mine isn't clogged but it robs HP. Your car will get louder, not a ton, with a stock/nice exaust system and you will notice small power gains.

what if I want to put it back on, just so it's easier for me, will that make a big difference?
what I'm doing is making it a bolt-on/off section... having a shop custom fab this for me so I can put mine back in before emissions and then take it right off. THis is what I would do if I were you. As it is, that cat is useless and will need to be replaced if you ever want to use it again.
sure... do what makes you happy... yes you will see some improvment in power, how much? I don't know. Gas mileage I think you'll lose some won't you? I dunno. I'll let you know how it goes when I take my shit out.

Dont gut the honeycombs or you will feel a lag. Just weld a pipe in or even weld some flanges on like stated above by JR so it can go back in....
I was going to do the flange thing using the flanges off of my old stock muffler but the damn scrap guys grabbed my muffler before I remembered to cut them off dam**t.
I think my cats may be causing some lag due to clogging so I am just going to weld a pipe in there place and when e-check comes back around in december (hopefully they will do away with it by then) then I will have to buy new cats but at least I can put it off until the winter....
Oh yeah ... I am cutting out the stock resonators also and doing some magnaflow ones...
Good luck... PS you can find a new cat setup out there for around 400$ (instead of the 600 everyone else charges) I think the site is all catylitic convertors or something like that..

Well right now you have too much backpressure = lag. If you bash the honeycomb out you will not have enough back pressure = lag. I mean it could improve from what it is now but it could also make it just as bad. If you weld a pipe in its place you will retain moe of the backpressure. Just a thought.
