Thought I'd pass this bit of info along to you guys, in case anyone ever needs it...I have been shopping around for some new wheels for my '92 318i, until my sister needed a loan (i.e. my wheel money...lol). So, today I go down to a local shop my mechanic told me about. They had just the deal I needed on my now limited wheel funds. Four of the 17 inch BMW OEM wheels for the X-5, in truly like new condition, for $400 total (with *very* slightly used tires).
The wheel/tire place went so far as to check manuals, and even mount one of the tires I was looking at on the wheels I was interested in to make *sure* they fit properly on the car. Now, I get to know for sure that the 17 inch X-5 wheels (which I think rock) do indeed fit my model--and I would guess all E-36's, though you should check, of course.
That's it, just confirming for anyone interested that these wheels will for sure fit properly on the '92 318i, and likely all other 3 series. I'll get some pics tomorrow sometime in case anyone wants to see how they look on.
Oh, here's a pic without the tires on yet...So you guys know which X-5 wheels I mean (17"x7.5"). The lighting was weird in here, and I don't have too great a digital camera yet, but you'll get the idea.
Yeah, I'm getting the tires mounted tomorrow morning, so I'll post some pics once they're on. Oh, thought I'd better mention this part, as well...I'm putting (and tested with this size on it) 235/40/17 on front, 245/40/17 on the rear with these.
Nah, not the dealer...hehe It's a place over on Altamont (just off the Blvd.). They have stupid amounts of BMW wheels (among other types), and the Manager/Owner type there (not sure which he was) seems more than willing to deal with you a bit. Honestly, their tire prices are okay, and they might make you a deal, but several places online have better prices on those. Let me know if you need their number or the like.
As for you getting the chromies...I might be willing to do that. Drop me a PM.
Oh, lest it be confusing; I got the wheels and tires both in the deal, but the tires weren't mounted (they were closing, so they couldn't do them today). Least I got them...hehe
K, pics added to my basic pic page...Link follows. Let me know what you guys think.
Tires are 235/40/17, W speed rating, Fuzion ZRi's, if anyone wants to know. I was very surprised by these, as the price doesn't seem enough according to all the rave reviews I've read on these tires. Anyway, there you are...hehe I really think the new wheels/tires make the car look sooo much better. Oh, if it looks like I'm missing some lugbolts; I'm not--some are left over chrome ones, with the rest being black.
Glad you changed your sig to the new wheels...They look nice, and I'd been wondering how those worked out. I thought your original 15 inch wheels fit your car, but those 16's look even better. I looked at some 16's myself, but the 17's were the right price at the right time...hehe Which reminds me; if you need a spare wheel like your new ones, let me know. The place I got my wheels from has several just like yours (in 16 inch), and has what seem to be great prices. Those were the other style I looked at there.
