It does cost money to get a carfax account but you get the account for a certian amount of time so you can run a bunch of VINs. The purpose is if you're looking for a used car and shopping around, you can check all the cars you need to before making a decision. So on other boards like bimmerforums.com, guys with carfax accounts are nice enough to help people run their VINs.

Yeah I ran people's vins for them when I had the month subscription. Try posting in the lounge or something there's always somebody with an account. Or you could be the person and be nice.

When buying from a dealer, make the dealer run the carfax for you, they should do it for free if they think you are serious with the deal.

Yup, thanks for the carfax, I'll get you your radio code. I'll be outta town this weekend, so unless you get me the serial before 3pm, I probably won't be able to get it for you till Monday. But email it to me anyways, and if I can get to a computer, I'll get it for you.
