hey guys, I got a 93 325is manual just does not want to start anymore!
It just started yesterday. I was on my way out and the car decided not to start. The starter seems to work, the battery is fine. I got it to work for one day but still on that day it was tough to get it to start. Now it just doesn't want to start at all!! Any suggestions? I worked on so many things to get this car up to par, i'm just bout to give up and let bmw rape me and fix it
Spark, compression, fuel. You're missing one of these components. When you got it to run, did the car run poorly? If so it may have a compression problem.
Have you checked the spark plugs recently? Pull one and see if it looks worn or corroded, or if it has oil on it.
Good Luck
Kevin

The same thing happened to me the other day. What I did was I had to take off the starter, and clean all of the wires because there was corrosion on the ground wire. It happened to me because the air went from cold to really humid and it made it corrod.
it didn't really run poorly, it idled funny every like 15 min. it would just to 4000 rps and then straight to 0 and back to normal idle, but all these sound like good areas to check, thanx guys, i will check it out as soon as i get chance.
So wait, pretty much try cleaning the starter, checking the spark plugs?
this might be a stupid question... but how old is the gas in the car?
when i start up my snowmobile (only every winter) the gas is a year old... so i have to run out most of the old gas and oil (2stroke) and then it runs like a beast...
oh ya and it wouldnt start to easy either...
haha, thanx alot man, but i thought that was the problem yesterday when it just started happening, so i filled it up with premium. Premium here in New Jersey is like 2.08 so I filled her up , she ran good until the next day. So the gas is a day old pretty much
another question for u guys. I can get to the spark plugs and what not, but how do i get them out? Do i need to purchase a special tool? it's pretty deep in there and i don't think i have anything long enough to get to it
this happen to me 3x a few weeks ago, didn't find out what the problem was, but now she starts fine with no problems yet.... you might need a new fuel pump or a new fuel filter. i'm not sure, sorry can't help. Good Luck!
it could be something as simple as a loose/cracked vacuum hose. That'll cause the engine to die right after it starts, or not start at all. check the hose right after the mass airflow sensor for cracks or holes, and make sure it's sealed at both ends.
I do have a cracked MAS that was sealed with silicone but not properly sealed. it still has cracks exposed! that might be why my car didn't start that time. damn previous owner!!! i just won a new Bosch MAS on ebay for 20 bucks n waiting for it to come this week......
alright, so i changed the spark plugs, got it to start right up with more power then before. turn off the car, start it and it's all good. all of a sudden it starts spazzing out. reving up to like 6000 rpms! i'm like wtf? I take out the mass airflow connection and it solves that problem. Turn off the car, put everything back on, and the car won't start up again. What the hell is goin on with my car? The check engine light is on now and it's all fucked up. I finally got it started one more time, drove it to bmw and dropped it off. They said if i don't have an appointment it's gonna take a while, like 2 weeks. i'm gonna miss my car. Well, take some stabs and guesses, i'll let u guys know what it is when i get it back from the dealer.
