Car running rough

[New Owner]

I am a new owner of a 325i 1995. I have had it for a few months and it has been running beautifully. I went to start it last week and it would not start. The car was coughing and misfiring and would not run. I arranged for it to be towed to the mechanic who said that it was a failed Mass Air Flow Sensor. He purchased a new one of these and contacted me to advise that it now it runs but does not idle. It miss fires while idling?

The mechanic has indicated that there are now multiple errors appearing which vary each time he looks at it.

He says that the computer may have failed and he needs to send it to an auto electrician.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? As I am concerned that the mechanic is not across this. Any suggestion on what he should do?

check the new MAF sensor and make sure the model #'s are the same as the old one that was taken out.

i'd also like to know what codes/errors he is getting as a result of the replacement
