I'm new at BMW-forum so hopefully I don't run into any mod. problems.
My car-puter LEDs seem like they are burning out. On some days, I can read everything (temperature, CHECK, etc.) and some other days it will not even turn on. Would there be problems with the fuse or would this be an electrical problem?
There are actually 3 or 4 little lightbulbs on the top of the unit.... remove the On-Board Computer (OBC) and you will see them right on the top... change those out and it should illuminate once more.
or it could be a half short, my dials for heat and all that do that, if i tap the plastic the light turns off, if i tap it again the light turns on! its kind of cool having tap lights but annyoing too so that could be your problem! but chekc your bulbs first! but its weird if they are on sometimes and off the other, so either way!
Wow. You guys have a quick response time. I appreciate the info!

How do I go about removing the OBC? and what type of light bulbs do I use?

Oh.. I know all about the tapping! It's quite embarrassing some times when a passenger friend looks at the time and it reads 77:00 when it's really trying to output 08:08.

yeah with all the members we have here and how smart the majority of themembers are you can get info that you can trust really fast, i love this place for that! but yeah im not a fan of the tapping either haha! as for removing the computer you know how theres the computer and then a slot underneath it for say your wallet etc, well put your hand in there and right in the middle of the computer theres a hole put your finger in there and pull it out! it takes some effort however! i think thats the only way to do it, there might be a safer way to do it, ut ive removed mine like 20 times this wya and nothing bad has happened yet! good luck!
My OBC sucks, the only think that doesn't have burnt out pixles is the clock, and the clock is about 5 mins every day too fast, so I just pulled the bulb from that one, stupid obc ghead

Ok it worked! I found the hole and the finger made her come out
I looked at the top and there were four sockets. socket 1, 3, and 4 had little black knobs. Socket 2 is missing one. I'm assuming that these little knobs are the bulbs. Would I be able to just pull them out? Will I create any damage?
