I need help on this one guys cause the car temperature is so messed up. I have a 316i E36 saloon. The temperature controls don't seem to be working correctly. Heat to the windscreen and the floor is hot, but the front vents on the dash are cold. I don't seem to have any control over the temperature of the car. If I set the temperature to cold, the windscreen and the floor vents are still coming out hot. If I set the temperature to hot, the front vents on the dash are still blowing out cold air. I definately need help on this one.
sounds like you have your top vents set to cold. underneath of the top vent in the middle of the dash, right next to where the open/close vent thing is, is a control for hot/cold. just turn it over to the red and heat should be coming out.

Its the 95 model. I don't have the digital control, its the basic analogue style.

Ya didn't mention if moving your knob below the middle vents from blue to red solved your problem. That sure sounds like it could be the cause of the cold air.

You've got a leak somewhere in your heating system...could be a hose. When you turn the heat on, hot radiator coolant flows through the interior heater and the fan blows air over the heater providing hot air. Check hoses.

Moving the know from blue to red doesn't seem to do anything.
