Okay, a few days ago my check engine light came on. I was thinking it could be something dumb again like the gas cap, so I decided to give it a few days. Yesterday my brake pad warning lamp came on (when I looked up the light on the manual it said "If this light comes on, replace brakes immediately.") Great. I can't take it in to get my brakes changed until Monday. Then this morning my left tail light went out. Nice little message came up on my computer, and after I got out to look, the light is indeed out. Feh.
Then this afternoon, I parked my car, got out, and when walking away, I hit the remote lock button. It beeped 3 times and the doors didn't lock. Now I know this happens when a door isn't closed or something, so I turn around and kind of raise an eyebrow. I try it again. Same thing. I open and close all the doors and trunk and try it...same thing. Pissed off, I just put the key into the lock and turned it to lock the car. Great.
Monday morning I'm going to get the brakes looked at, but if the shop tries to overcharge me too much, I'll order them from bavauto and just have to wait for them to come in. Monday afternoon I'm going to get the check engine light looked at. The bulb in the tail light isn't a big deal, that's like $10 to fix. But the remote locking problem kinda has me scared. Does anyone have ANY clue what it could be?
Hmm.. as for the brakes... that means your pads are low...... easy fix... I would find the type of pad you want to use... There are a few DIY around... its not hard... since your pad sensor went off.. that means you need a new one... they are mildly priced.. and you can order them online at many places.. just search google for BMW parts....
As for the tail light... that junk just happens sometimes...
As for the keyless entry... whens the last time you replaced the battery on your key chain... other than that... that might just be something you will have to get looked at... Places that install those things should be able to help you.
Yea, battery in the alarm remote..Brakes, no problem......Check engine light............................notorious BMW problem with the gas cap causing it to light....Try a new gas gap...........I also put petroleum jelly on the gas cap seal for a more secure fit.
I don't any of these problems are that big. The check engine light comes on due to a multitude of things. not all big in nature.
The battery on my remote is fine, I can press it from a hundred feet away and the car still beeps.
I've already purchased a new gas cap from the dealer. Didn't make it go off (that was a few days ago) and now i'm starting to notice it riding more rough.
For the brake light, do I just need the "pads" or do i need rotors, or what all is involved in fixing that? Sorry, I know NOTHING about brakes.
gimme call tomorrow afternoon and I can come take a look at the brakes on my way home, plus try and sell you a push start kit.
I've actually replaced my breaks before. Its not hard at all. Have you checked which ones need it? If the rears are gone and the 328 has the same calipers, I've even got pads for you.
As for the bulb, I just replaced one of mine. Think I have bulbs. Might have given them to chick at work with a mini. Don't remember.
The interior lights are a fuse. I blew mine installing the XM. No clue why.

Awesome. Could that fuse also cause the remote locking/unlocking problem?
Well, theres not much point in the keyless mod, since your cylinder isnt frozen and you have an EWS model. The basic button was $20. Call it $50 installed.
