Car can't start.

Car can't start.
Hello

This the first time encountering this problem.

I try starting the car today, Radio, lights are on but when I turn the ignition to start the car, I can hear cranking sound & loud "click Click click" sound & the fuel gauge goes up & down. It struggles & the cranking sound is there but fail to start at all. So what could it be?



What i know if the car can't start-
1) MAF
2) Battery- It 's good?- Since the dashboard, radio all "on". Battery on the car since 2004.Could it be it?

What else?

Car has 60k Miles on it.

The battery may be just a bit low. You may wanna make sure the fuel pump is good as well.

The car ran fine on Sunday. Why of all the sudden -can't start today. Yeah I hope something simple( battery)-

Check the fuse- It's OK-, Battery terminal, Also OK.

Fuel pump can fail at 60k miles?? Just wondering?

I'm busy this week-

So now I have to use the garage queen(The 928 GTS) for daily use- which also have small coolant leak- It's the upper hose which will be sorted soon-.The BMW will be tow to the workshop next week.

FYI- When try to start- it has a slow cranking.

I'm thinking a flat battery.

Yeah..I was thinking that too. A weak battery maybe. Radio & dash light still on & slow cranking(2 or 3 times) and will not start at all.

I would charge the battery & then have it load tested.......
how old is the battery? 3 to 5 years is generally what they last.....

The battery since 2004(before I join this forum)..LOL.

I hope its the battery problem.

LOL.....6 years old, odds are, it's the battery!
