Camshaft Noise

[Portugal]

I have a '92 316i, and I'm in a rush to buy an '92 325i. But I've read that if i hear a camshaft noise, something like (tic tic tic...) when the engine is running, I should look for another car. I haven't seen the car yet, but can anyone tell me what do this noise mean? And why is it so bad? A friend of mine have a '93 320i and we suspect that his engine is starting to do that noise...

Sounds like valve noise. It usually just means wear OR that you're not using a thick enough oil. Many times a good oil will take away the tick.

lifter or valves , is what it sounds like to me. very common on BMW's , does not mean that there is a serious problem or a problem at all. and there is actually something you can add to rid the problem or at least dumb the noise down

even more common.... loose spark plugs. check them out and torque to 22 lb-ft
