Someone mentioned I should look into upgrading my cam shaft. How does that affect your performance? Also what are some good brands?

you can't use them. you'd need the i6 engine.

Or a '92. Before you do the camshafts you should do the m50 manifold swap, and an obd1 conversion. The obd I conversion will allow for you to have a proper chip made up to accomodate the higher lift and duration of the cams.

But don't M3 cams fit right into 328i's?

So you're saying if I got a schrick cam for my car that's stock engine except sharking.... it won't help much? I need to do heads and exhaust (both of which are really expensive)?

I've read that M3 3.2 L cams give about a 5-10 horse gain, but if you do the obd1 conversion m50 manifold swap, you're easily looking at at 50-60 horse gain.

Hmm, cams and m50 manifold probably a 20 horse gain, I'd go for that.
