aight so i've been wondering if i need to replace my fuel filter and etc. so i have a 1993 automatic 318is and when trying to acclerate from a dead stop it feels like it is about to stall even worse when going up hill and yesterday i decided to get an estimate of what my 0 to 60 time was cause i've heard people sayin it is around 9 to 10, so ata red light decide to give it a shot and no joke 0 to 40 in 12 seconds didnt even make it up to 60. its not my tranny cause i try it in first with the manual mode and in drive and they both hasatate at first and feels like it doesnt want to go

Could it possible be a cloged fule filter, bad mas airflow sensor, o2 sensor, and dirty air filter? Does your check engine light come on?

hey justin is have the exact same car a 92 318is. Definitly do not try to manually shift the auto. And if you hit the M button that starts the car in 3rd gear which really makes the launch rediculous. Ill tell you how to launch your car. put it in regular drive on auto. your gonna need to power brake the car to get a decent launch and beleive me it makes at least a full second or 2 difference then not power braking with these cars. So left foot smush the brake in as far as you can so the car wont be jerking forward. Right foot on the gas and your gonna need to blip the throttle to get the torque converter moving. just push the gas in a few times like your reving it and then your gonna have the gas down to the floor. Now your power braking. Now just lift off the brake and keep your foot to the floor haha and pin it baby. You will definitly feel your launches are a lot harder and you get your car moving a lot quicker. give it a try and let me know.

Got a 93 318i but its a manual. Ive heard people say our cars are slow, but there not like busted slow. Just not quick.

Question: When your accelerating normally with other traffic, does everyone else accelerate way faster than you. If so, u prolly have problem, but if its just that u cant race anybody... well are cars arent' the best racing 0-60 racing machines. There still quick though.

1995 318i, it's a manual though.

DO NOT POWER BRAKE. It is bad for everything expensive in your car. The entire drive train, brakes everything. DO NOT POWER BRAKE, if you care at all about not having to replace parts in your car. But if you do not mind tearing your car apart, then please by all means do it. it is a legitimate way to improve your 0-60 or 1/4 mile time with an auto tranny. But once again my thoughts are DO NOT POWER BRAKE.

Yes definitely slow in the acceleration department, even more so with the AC on, and in this hot weather you don't have much a choice.

But IMO for canyon runs it's more than sufficient for me.
