CAI legal in NY?

Hello all,

I'm taking my car for inspection soon and I wondered if any New Yorkers could tell me if, from personal experience, having a CAI installed will fail inspection. If it will i guess I'll have to put the stock airbox on for a day.

I've never heard of a CAI causing a failed inspection. I'm not from NY, so I don't know for sure, but that would be really weird if it did.

dont worry about it... its not illegal... nor will it make you fail inspection!

actually in terms of illegal, i thought CAI were considered illegal, but something that was always omitted from inspections

i just passed in MA... they dont really look under the hood...

k thanks fellas I'll rest easier now I'm taking it in Wednesday and I don't "know the guy" so just wanted to make sure before i waste my $21 for state inspection!
Also having the brake/clutch fluid changed, the rad flushed, and an alignment performed. I'd do the fluids myself but have nowhere to do it. The guy said about $200 for everything which doesn't seem all that bad.

i have an FIPK kit on a truck of mine and they didn't mention a word about it. i heard that they (CAI) were illegal in NY too, but that is only if it causes a fault in the omissions computer. NY inspections are totally gay now with the obdII scan and the kicker is that only 2 or 3 of the five (i think) computers have to be online for it to pass inspection. my car has a small emissions leak and all i have to do to pass the test is to disconnect my battery or clear the computers and then drive it for 100 miles and i have just passed the obdII scan test with 3 of the 5 computers up and running. then after i pass 100 more mile role and the small evap leak comes back up. good old new york for another gay law.
