A/c Turning Off And On - Please Help

Gentlemen,

I have a 318I 1997, the a/c is turning off and on by itself. It got so bad that it burned my A/C compressor and the belt 'cause it was turning off and on many times. Now my car is heating up after driving for a few miles. I took it to this mechanic and told me that the fan is working, thermostat is ok, and water pump is working but the problem is that the malfunctioning of the A/C computer is turning the fan off when it's not suppose to. He recommended to take it to a BMW dealer. Is there a way to fix this problem without taking it to the dealer? If not, How much does it cost. THANK YOU AHEAD FOR ANY ASSISTANCE.

Hmm..Its gonna cost alot for anything at the Dealership..But at least it will be fixed..

The same thing was happening to me, except it didnt get so bad that the belt was burnt. im 95% sure that the a/c, heating console is bad and the whole thing will have to be replaced.. I just bouight the car when i had to get mine fixed so i didnt know crap about how to fix them, ne ways, long story short, the dealer will ass rape you, it ended up costing me over 500 bucks.. if you can, find it and put it in yourself. ive done all the work on my car from there on out.

hey same thing happened to me, where my ac would just randomly turn on and off, or sometimes not at all... im not sure if its the same problem but check this
