Ok my car has R12 a/c. So i went to my mechanic and he put some r12. Then I drove around and turned on A/C to max, then a mist, that looks like smoke(doesn't smell), comes out and shoots white flakes of stuff out. Today same thing happened when i was driving home. Anybody know what this is?
condensation/ice,you now have a functioning A/C. In humid conditions you will notice this happening more. I doubt your mechanic would have used R12 as this gas is now illegal (in most countries). It would have probably been R45 or variant. One thing to be careful when topping up mixed gases is the new gases run at a high pressure. Normally with R12 you would fill the system until there were no more bubbles in the sight glass. With R45 the system should not be filled to this level otherwise you will blow the seals.
