A/c Problems

My a/c gave up on me on friday and I would like to know if any body has experienced this before. Before it went out it would only blow on the 4th setting. Then all the sudden it would not blow at all. any suggestions. 325i 1992. thanks for any help.

In the airduct in the footwell there is a resistor pack which regulates the blower fan speed. This will be the cause of the initial problem of the fan only working on position 4. Now that the fan is not working at all check fuses and relays. The blower fan also has an inline thermal fuse inside the motor which could be blown, this happened to mine. It is very tricky to remove the fan motor, I was able to remove it through the firewall air duct.

Can you even hear the ac compressor when switched on.? I had no air coming through on my mine so I thought id go get a regas. I later found out that my pollen filter was so of 5h1t and blocking any air coming through. So I ripped it out. Icy cold now.
