You blew a fan resistor. You'll need a replacement part from the dealer. It just looks like a plug and it's brown colour. To access it is very tricky. It's located towards the back of the firewall under your steering wheel. It should be located towards the back right above where there are some silver coloured tubes that look like fingers. Just find the plug and pull it out.

I have similar problem with my aircon. There is no difference in speed between settings 1 and 2. Dealer has already replaced the blower switch and it made no difference. Any ideas?

I have a problem with the A/C which is a big mistery as well

the a/c comes on for a short period of time, then off and nothing .........then again for about an hour ......... AUTO/AIR it seems to search , it has a mind of it's own....we checked the obvious like freon etc we checked the air filter if it is the temp (sensor) where is it located .the Nevada temp is in the 3digid and without A/C it's no fun....we gone through the checklist....no obvious answers

Any suggestions...?

When your ac goes out, does the display work at all? If not, then it is your climate control. Check this link to fix. http://www.macadamizer.com/bmwfix.html
It is proven to work by me and countless others. The other people that have speed problems with AC, it is your final stage unit or as some people call it, sword.
