had my a/c checked the other day as it was only blowing cool air. some tool from a local "a/c specialist" garage said my freon was a little low so he filled it to where it should be. after this it was better but still not what it was last year. he said he would recover my old freon and refill it with new for $150 because my freon was too old. Everything else was fine he said so i told him to pound it up his ass and left. now i noticed that when i'm driving it is blowing cooler than when i'm sitting at a light so i'm wondering if maybe my compressor is starting to fail? hopefully someone can give me an idea.

Leaks also account for moisture to seep into the A/C system; and when moisture is present, cooling is also compromised. if you lose the cooling again, it might be wiser to find the leak & change the filter/drier befoe you vacuum and recharge the system.

Blowing cooler than when sitting at a light.<<< check to see if the auxiliary fan is operational. If not, then fixit ;-)

thanks Darkhorse, I imagine a seal must be gone then because I had my condenser replaced 2 years ago and everything was checked. a new receiver/ drier is in order also then?

check the aux fan first. if working then train your efforts on finding the leak :-)

when you do find the leak... then yes, for a 13yr old car, change receiver /drier(about USD25.-) and the orifice tube(if ur car uses 1 of those)/expansion block.

Bear in mind that in A/c systems... we do not see what happens inside the system. we only feel the effects. That being said.. it's better to replace waht you can before vacuuming and re-charge. lessens your headache of having to waste the freon 2-3 or 4 times around ;-)

thanks, i'll check the fan tomorrow supposed to be like 34 degrees C (I think around 90F) by afternoon so should be on then.
